4th Ontario LAVA Meeting

The next Ontario LAVA (LabVIEW advanced virtual architects) meeting will be held on Tuesday April 27th, 2004. The topics of discussion will be:

1. Structured Analysis -- A Brief Introduction.
Structured Analysis is an analysis and partioning methodology. We'll look at the tools of SA and how you may benefit from using it. We'll take a simple but real problem, use a computerized SA tool to analysis it, then see a LabVIEW solution implemented from the structured specification. - Presented by Doug Mumford of Mumford & Associates

2. OpenGOOP is OpenG's version of a Graphical Object Oriented Programming (GOOP) framework. It's 100% pure G, allows dynamic instantiation of multiple component instances, and provides the potential to add features that make large application development easier. We will see a brief demonstration of how to use the OpenGOOP toolkit to create new classes. We will also see an example of a real program using GOOP to protect data access. - Presented by Michael Aivaliotis of mmWave Integrated Solutions.

3. LabVIEW Scripting - Some discussion on the LAVA forums led to the discovery of some hidden scripting features. We will take a look at these and discuss what the potential benefit is for us is as LabVIEW developers. We will also see some simple apps written based on these scripting capabilities.

Location: Humber College.
